Barbara Bürkle Quintett debut album "Everything Allowed"

The Barbara Bürkle Quintett approaches its musical work with such sensitivity, energy, and fun – listening to that is pure joy. Everything Allowed means that these five musicians don’t set themselves any stylistic limits: anything goes that pleases (them). That’s why their repertoire contains titles which range from joyful Latin to rousing Swing, from multifaceted Modern Jazz to earthy Rhythm ’n’ Blues.

Barbara Bürkle, 31, was born near Stuttgart, Germany. From 1999 to 2003 she studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim. As a member of the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra Germany, as well as with other ensembles, Bürkle has toured Europe, Asia, and Africa. In December 2008, Barbara won “Voices Now” in Brussels and in October 2010 she placed fourth in the semifinals of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in Washington, D.C.

"You’ve got a wonderful gift - just keep doing what you do!"
Dee Dee Bridgewater (Thelonious Monk Int. Competition, Washington, D.C. 10/10)

"Congratulations on your first, very lovely CD! You should be proud of it - a nice mixture of standards, originals and Pop... with your wonderful singing and fresh arrangements. Good ideas... to start with 'Eleanor Rigby', including your perfect Portuguese on 'O Pato', and a sweet bit of Norma Winstone with 'Celeste'."
Judy Niemack

"(...) Barbara Burkle (...) qui est aussi à l’aise dans le bebop (Boplicity) que dans le blues ou la bossa (O Pato) où sont en valeur sa voix claire et sa très bonne articulation."
